Hosanna!

Hi I'm Dj... you can call me Dorothy too haha :) This is my blog for the Lord. It's named hosanna in the highest simply coz it comes from my favorite song :)

I am a follower of Jesus. A sinner saved by grace. A woman made holy and righteous by the blood of my Savior.

I love photography (though i'm just starting out), I love music and serve as a worship leader in our church. I love sunsets and stars. And I am forever amazed by the beauty that the Lord has made.

This blog is both a means of expression and a ministry to encourage. I hope you are blessed :) Praise be to God alone :)

Disclaimer: The Bible is the Truth. I love to write notes, however I CHALLENGE YOU first to test and approve even the things I write here. Also understand that there is a difference between EXPLICIT BIBLICAL TRUTH from a personal conviction or application of the truth.

Christianity is not a competition

Christianity is not a competition. Never was, never is, never will be.

Sometimes when we meet someone who is better than us at something we think we’re good at, we tend to shrink and shy away, choosing to waddle in insecurities rather than challenging ourselves to grow more.

As a musician of the Lord one of my most common mistake is comparing myself with others. I compare my vocal range to others, I base my skill on how often i get contacted to worship lead, I entertain thoughts of jealousy when someone can play the piano better, or play so many instruments, I feel insecure when I don’t understand all the musical terminologies—-These things are examples of WHAT NOT TO DO.

The moment we begin comparing ourselves is the moment we take our eyes off of Jesus to focus on others.

God has given each of us unique capabilities. God has wired us differently for different purposes. Our priority is to be WHO God wants us to be, not be who we think we ought to be, or be who we want to be like, or be who others expect us to be.

Another thing: Christian fellowship should spur you into Christ-likeness. If there are people who are better than you that make the most out of it and learn from them to develop your craft or skill. Build each other up rather than tear each other down because of competition.

At the end of the day, other people are not our “ruler” and standard that we strain towards. We strive towards CHRIST-LIKENESS not people-likeness. So live in line with YOUR calling, and be humble and willing enough to learn from others.

Be blessed, and soon you too shall be there to bless others :)
